Announcement Regarding Entry Procedures To Turkey Effective From January 10, 2022

Within the scope of the measures taken against the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the following decisions regarding entry to the country have been taken by the authorities of the Republic of Turkey, to be effective from January 10, 2022:

1) Passengers arriving directly from South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Brazil, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, India and Pakistan and passengers who had been in these countries within the last 14 days shall submit a negative PCR test result done within 72 hours before arrival. Passengers arriving directly from South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Brazil, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, India and Pakistan and passengers who had been in these countries within the last 14 days will be exempted from quarantine if they submit proof of 2 doses of vaccination (listed by WHO or Turkey for emergency use) (1 dose for Johnson and Johnson) provided that the last dose was at least 14 days before arrival.

Otherwise these passengers will be quarantined at their residences or addresses they submit. On the fifth day of quarantine a PCR test will be done and if result is negatıve, quarantine will be lifted. Passengers who do not have a PCR test on the 5th day will remain in quarantine until the 7th day.

If the result of the test on the 5th day is positive: these persons will be isolated, for persons with symptoms starting from the beginning of symptoms, for persons without symptoms starting from the time that sample was taken on the fifth day:

a. Will be isolated during 7 days.

b. At the end of the 7th day isolation will be lifted for people without symptoms or with low symptoms and fever on the condition that they have not taken an antipyretic in the last 24 hours.

c. For early termination of isolation, PCR test can be done on day 5, if the test result is negatıve, the isolation is ended.

2) If passengers aged over 12 and under 18 travelling with their parents arriving from the countries listed in article 1 submitting a negatıve PCR test result within 72 hours prior to the entry will be sufficient. For these passenger, PCR test will be applied again in their residence, if PCR test result is negative then no quarantıne will be required.

3a) Passengers arriving from Afghanistan and those who have been in this country for the last 14 days must submit a negative PCR test result taken at most 72 hours before arrival. These passengers are subject to quarantine for 10 days at hotels determined by the governorships. Expenses for accommodation and transfers from airports will be born by passengers. At the end of 7th day, if test result is negative, quarantine will be lifted.

3b) Afghanistan citizens who have residence or work permit in
Republic of Turkey will be exempted from the hotel quarantine on the condition that they submit valid residence or work permit and they will be subjected to quarantine at their residence. Passengers whose first entry points is out of Istanbul or Ankara will be allowed to travel to their Residence only by private vehicles and will not be allowed to have domestic flights or use public transportation.

3c) Republic of Turkey citizens arriving from Afghanistan will be exempted from the hotel quarantine and they will be subjected to quarantine at their residence and passengers whose first entry points is out of Istanbul or Ankara will be allowed to travel to have domestic flights or use public transportation.

4) Passengers to be quarantined under article 3a shall pay the
hotel fees before arriving to Turkey. Passengers who cannot prove that they have made the necessary payments to stay at the hotels determined by the governorships will not be allowed to board the plane by airline operators.

5) Passengers arriving from Iran and Egypt will be requested to submit a PCR test report with a negative result at most 72 hours prior to arriving Turkey or submit proof of 2 doses of vaccination (listed by WHO or Turkey for emergency use) (1 dose for Johnson and Johnson) provided that the last dose was at least 14 days before arrival.


6) Passengers arriving from the countries other than those listed in article 1, 3 and 5, those who submit proof of 2 doses of vaccination (listed by WHO or Turkey for emergency use) (1 dose for Johnson and Johnson) provided that the last dose was at least 14 days before arrival and/or a proof of recovery from Covid-19 within the last 6 months starting from the 28th day of the first positive PCR test result, will not be asked to present a negative PCR test report and quarantine measures will not be applied.

7) Passengers arriving from the countries other than those listed in article 1, 3 and 5, those who do not submit proof of 2 doses of vaccination (1 dose for Johnson and Johnson) provided that the last dose was at least 14 days before arrival and/or a proof of recovery from Covid-19 wıthin the last 6 months starting from the 28th day of the first positive PCR test result, PCR test report with negative result at most 72 hours or a rapid antigen test report with negative result at most 48 hours prior to the entry will be sufficient.

8) PCR tests will be performed by the Ministry of Health on the
basis of sampling at the passengers' destinations. Passengers will be allowed to go to their final destination after the test samples are taken, and if the test results are posıtıve, they will be treated according to the Covid-19 guide of the Ministry of Health. Passengers with a positive test result and persons they have been in close contact with wıll be quarantined for 7 days at their own addresses and the quarantine conditions will be terminated if the PCR test results to be performed at the end of the 5th day are negative. The quarantine conditions of those who are found to be carrying the virus will be terminated end of the 7th day of the quarantine without PCR test.

9)The Republic of Turkey citizens will enter to the Republic of Turkey those who submit proof of 2 doses of vaccination (listed by WHO or Turkey for emergency use) (1 dose for Johnson and Johnson) and/or those who submit document that they have Covid-19 within the last 6 months or those who submit PCR test report with a negative result implemented at most 72 hours before entry or submitting a negative rapid antigen test result at most 48 hours before arrival country will be allowed.

10) These requirements are not applicable to transit and/or transfer passengers.

11) There will be no PCR requirement and quarantine for the crew.

12) Passengers aged under 12 are exempted from PCR/antigen test report and vaccine certificate application on entry to the Republic of Turkey.

13) Documents such as vaccine certificate, PCR/antigen test result will be controlled by airline companies before travel and passengers without the document will not be accepted to the travel, the responsibility arising due to the accepting of non-certified persons will be compensated by the airline companies.

14) The hotels determined by the governorships for passengers to be quarantined under the article 3a will be published in English on the link of DGCA (
